Sindh SDGs Support Unit, UNDP Pakistan and the Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh, hosted the ‘Stories of Change – Resilience and Action in Sindh’ event as part of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
The event brought together over 50 participants which included government representatives, development partners, academia, journalists, civil society, UN agencies and community voices — including representatives from key departments from GOS, such as the Chairperson Sindh Commission on the Status of Women, Chief Executive Advisor School Education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh, Chief Planning & Development Department, Spokesperson to Home Minister, Chairperson Sindh Women Bar Association, KSBL, Institute of Business Administration, Police Department and the Public Private Partnership Unit — for a focused dialogue on gender equality and the lived realities of women across Sindh.
Through two documentary screenings, panel discussions, and a storytelling segment featuring women and youth advocates, the programme highlighted the barriers and contributions of women in education, health, livelihoods, and leadership, the importance of institutional reforms and survivor-centered justice, the role of governance, policy, and cross-sector partnerships, and the power of community resilience and youth-led change.
The event concluded with an Interactive Pledge for Action, followed by closing remarks delivered by Mr. Qasim Soomro, Member Provincial Assembly of Sindh, who emphasized the importance of collective efforts to advance gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence in Sindh.
